Calamity Horse is set to release his debut album ‰Û÷A Boat Can Go Lost‰۪ on the 27th April on The Mitcham Submarine label.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Nigel Gray ‰ÛÒ whose album credits include ‰Û÷Kaleidoscope‰۪ and ‰Û÷Juju‰۪ by Siouxsie & The Banshees and ‰Û÷Outlandos d‰۪Amour,‰۪ ‰Û÷Reggatta de Blanc‰۪ and ‰Û÷Zenyatta Mondatta‰۪ by The Police - ‰Û÷A Boat Can Go Lost‰۪ was recorded during three sessions at Nigel Gray‰۪s Stanton House Studio in Cornwall between September 2014 and February 2015.

From the bass rumblings of ‰Û÷Do You Live In A Town?‰۪ to the delicate piano stylings of ‰Û÷Pretty Static,‰۪ the heavenly choral accompaniment and ska-infused trumpets of ‰Û÷Seaside Town‰۪ and the brass band-esque and album centrepiece ‰Û÷Curtain Call,‰۪ ‰Û÷A Boat Can Go Lost‰۪ shows a musical finesse rarely seen in modern music.åÊ

Says producer Nigel Gray: ‰ÛÏWe recorded the backing tracks with drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals live in the room (no click tracks) and then added some sparse instrumental overdubs and heavenly girl backing vocals. My wife, Diana, was honoured to add her dulcet tones to the ensemble! The addition of some real brass gave an extra depth and quality to the overall sound‰۝

Lyrically, it‰۪s an album of emotional resonance. Says Craig McNeil, the man behind Calamity Horse: ‰ÛÏI tried to write about old and new memories, experiences and stories I‰۪d been told over the years, an attempt at a collection of east coast simple, soulful, rhythm and rhymes I suppose‰۝.
