Album of the week is the latest from ex-Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones, click HERE for more info. Heavenly Records' latest signing audiobooks (their annoying lower case, not mine) release their proggy-electronic debut. 4AD's 80's ethereal goths Dead Can Dance return after 6 years with Dionysus, a typically globe-trotting take on folk traditions. Bob Dylan's much-storied Blood On The Tracks (his best album in my not so humble opinion) sessions gets the Bootleg Series treatment, with a whole host of different versions across a hefty CD boxset or a single LP of highlights. Jon Spencer steps out for his debut solo record,...
Today's New Releases
Album of the week is a new Soul Jazz compilation focussing on experimental electronic stuff from the 60s up to the 80s, more on that below. Whole load of good records out this week, make yourself comfortable. Vampire Weekend bassist (and friend of the shop) Baio is back with his second album of slick electronic new wave. Dream poppers Beach House compile their b-sides and rarities, stretching back to the beginning of their career. Peter Perrett, ex-singer of The Only Ones, finally gets his act together after years of ill health and drug addiction to release How The West Was...
New Releases 16th June 2017
Album of the week is the first album in 21 years from Ride, more on that HERE. Another busy week for releases, alongside what's here, there's others only available in the shop (wink wink, etc). Indie folk crew Fleet Foxes return with their first LP in 6 years, in which time their ex-drummer went off to become a star. Brighton's biggest Death From Above 1979 fans Royal Blood are back with more mainstage conquering drums and bass rawk, this time available on (very) limited white vinyl. Brent Rademaker (who used to be in Beachwood Sparks, who I LOVE) is back...
Today's New Releases
Album of the week is the spectacularly titled new one from Gnod, more on that below Also out this week is the first in a few years (after some soundtrack work) from Canvey Island fans British Sea Power, which is available in a limited edition gatefold LP. Hypnotic folk/blues guitarist Jake Xerxes Fussell's new one is produced by South favourite William Tyler, and if you're a fan of Dave Van Ronk, Jim Dickinson, Nathan Bowls, etc, you'll be well in to this. Goldfrapp's seventh album sees them collaborate with a few of them outsiders - The Haxan Cloak, a mong...
New releases - 22nd September
Some highly anticipated albums out this week - the return of Aphex Twin after 13 years, the new one from Leonard Cohen (on his 80th birthday), Swedish psych rockers Goat, buttoned up indie nerds Alt-J, the brilliant Perfume Genius, Essex's very own (well half of, anyway) Erasure return, former Stereolab singer Laetitia Sadier has a new one, and loads more. There's also reissues of the highly sought after Zambian psych rock LPs by Witch, Cybotron's techno classic Clear, and The Milkshakes off-shoot The Delmonas. Plus there's pre-orders for Caribou, The Vaselines, Oasis and Iceage This week's new releases Aphex TwinSyro...
