Chase the devil
Michael Hurley’s Broken Homes and Gardens is a fitting final chapter from one of America’s great songwriters. Recorded with The Hackles in Astoria, it mixes re-worked classics with new songs, wrapping up a singular career in warm, off-kilter folk style. Whitney K’s Bubble is a wandering, 13-song meditation full of strange characters, blurred memories, and back-room chatter. Equal parts gruff balladry and cerebral storytelling, it’s music for late nights and half-remembered dreams. Reginald Tilsley Orchestral No.10 revives a late-60s library pop gem -lush strings, bold horns, and jazz-tinged arrangements that swing from cinematic melancholy to upbeat drama. A cult favourite among beat-diggers, it includes the much-sampled “Warlock.” Max Romeo & The Upsetters’ War Ina Babylon returns in a new golden vinyl pressing. Produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry at the Black Ark, its righteous blend of protest and soul cemented it as one of reggae’s towering classics.
