Come over: Black Friday and this week at South
Today is Black Friday, which means there's a whole bunch of limited edition Record Store Day releases out today too, which you can browse here. They're all available in the shop today, first come, first served, but anything remaining will be online from tomorrow at 8am.
New this week: Neil Young’s Tonight’s the Night 50th Anniversary edition lands with six unreleased S.I.R. session tracks, including the original Lookout Joe and new versions of Walk On, Wonderin’ and Tonight’s the Night (Take 3), on reimagined black and limited clear vinyl. Jim Legxacy’s black british music (2025) finally hits LP via XL, an era-defining mix of rap, soul and sharp Black British storytelling, while The Durutti Column’s The Return of The Durutti Column is newly half-speed mastered from the original tapes with restored artwork and fresh liner notes. From the funk crates, Jimmy Jules & The Nuclear Soul System’s Xmas Done Got Funky resurfaces as a lethal 70s festive groove bomb on crystal clear vinyl. Stones Throw celebrate 20 years of J Dilla’s Donuts with a new audiophile edition cut by Bernie Grundman. Daisy Rickman’s home-recorded folk psych set Howl returns in a Weird Walk colour vinyl special, and Mike Lindsay (Tunng) supplies a chilling folk horror score for true crime film The Last Sacrifice on red wax. It is also a big week for MJ Lenderman: his self-titled debut arrives as a double LP remaster, revealing the slowcore-meets-Crazy Horse foundations of his sound; Ghost of Your Guitar Solo gets a first-time vinyl pressing of its scruffy country-punk storytelling; and a deluxe repress of Boat Songs reminds you why it has become a modern alt country touchstone.
