Continuous drunks and blunders: Coming soon

Continuous drunks and blunders: Coming soon

This week's pre-orders are led by Mercury Rev, with a newly remastered edition of their brilliant 1993 album Boces. One of the band's most adventurous records, it's a sprawling, psychedelic mix of noise, melody and experimentation, opening with the extraordinary ten-minute Meth of a Rockette's Kick. Remastered at Air Studios by Henry Rudkins and available on black vinyl.

We've also got two long-awaited reissues from New Zealand legends The Clean. Their second EP, Great Sounds Great, Good Sounds Good, So-So Sounds So-So, Bad Sounds Bad, Rotten Sounds Rotten!!, and the Getting Older 7" are both back on vinyl for the first time since their original release in 1982. Both have been remastered from the original tapes and are essential additions to the band's catalogue.

Sufjan Stevens has a new Christmas collection on the way, Worst Christmas Ever!, bringing together 15 favourites from his two extensive Christmas box sets, alongside his first new Christmas song in nearly 15 years. Available on limited translucent red vinyl. There's also a 20th anniversary edition of The Radio Dept.'s wonderful second album Pet Grief, a beautifully understated collection of Swedish dream-pop, finally back on vinyl. And finally, four Outkast albums are getting new coloured vinyl editions, including Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik on orange vinyl, ATLiens on emerald green, Aquemini on pink vinyl and the Big Boi and Dre Present… Outkast compilation on purple marbled vinyl. A great opportunity to pick up some of the finest hip-hop records of the 1990s.

Originally released in 1983, Einstürzende Neubauten's second album is one of the defining records of early industrial music. Built around scrap metal, power tools, found objects and Blixa Bargeld's extraordinary vocals, it's a harsh, unsettling and occasionally surprisingly beautiful record. There's a real sense of chaos throughout, but also far more structure and invention than you might expect. Not exactly easy listening, but a remarkable album that still sounds unlike much else more than forty years later. UK first pressing right here.
