Take a seat: This week at South
Jason Dungan’s fifth Blue Lake album The Animal expands his zither-led sound into full band territory, blending ambient, kosmische and folk textures with a communal, organic spirit. Recorded in Copenhagen with strings, horns and percussion, it’s his boldest work yet—vivid, collaborative and deeply rooted in ecological connection. Available as a Dinked Edition (300 only): transparent blue vinyl, signed insert with Jason’s artwork, bonus track download, hand-numbered sleeve. On Daybreak, Swedish composer Sven Wunder delivers his most ambitious album yet: a sweeping, cinematic journey from dawn to dusk, rich in orchestral colour, woodwinds, strings and jazz rhythm. Joined by Stockholm Studio Orchestra and Malcolm Catto, he crafts lush, evocative soundscapes inspired by OSTs and library records. Available on indies-only sky blue vinyl. First released in 1976, Ashra’s New Age of Earth stands as a kosmische classic, moving beyond Ash Ra Tempel into glacial electronics and celestial guitar work. From the hypnotic pulse of “Sunrain” to the side-long “Nightdust,” it’s an essential cornerstone of ambient and electronic music. Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl features 12 brand new songs packaged in a Portofino Orange Glitter Vinyl pressing with double gatefold sleeve, unique covers, unseen photos and full lyric booklet. Starspawn finds Blood Incantation pushing death metal to cosmic extremes - a 34-minute analog-produced maelstrom of technical riffs, ambient passages and transcendent atmosphere. Their signature mix of power and psychedelia melts through every track. Reissued on pearlescent sunrise coloured vinyl. Originally released in 1995, The Boo Radleys’ Wake Up! saw the band at their commercial peak, topping the UK chart and spawning the huge single “Wake Up Boo!”. Mixing ‘60s-infused pop, psychedelia and soaring choruses, it remains a Britpop-era landmark. Now reissued on vinyl to mark its 30th anniversary.
