The simple joy

Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band return with New Threats From the Soul, a rugged blend of cosmic country and cracked Americana, worn in like a favourite denim jacket. It's heartfelt and unhurried, with a steady pulse beneath its rust belt charm. Initial orders come with a limited print too. Yoshika Colwell’s On The Wing is a graceful debut of piano-led compositions, echoing Harold Budd and Ryuichi Sakamoto but grounded in the stillness of rural England. Quiet and searching, it's a record of gentle defiance and beauty. Operation Heavenly marks a bright final burst from Heavenly, full of sweetness and bite. Their harmonies and guitars still ring with purpose, a shining send-off from one of indie pop’s essential bands. The Making of Five Leaves Left offers an intimate look into Nick Drake’s formative sessions. Alternate takes and rare mixes cast a new light on familiar songs, showing the quiet intensity before it all crystallised. The first four Dr. Feelgood albums are back, raw and unvarnished. From the wired R&B of Down By The Jetty to the swagger of Stupidity, these reissues bottle the pub-rock lightning that once powered the Thames Delta. Mazzy Star’s She Hangs Brightly (on limited aqua and black coloured vinyl) and Among My Swan (on limited bone coloured vinyl) are reissued with all their dusky magic intact. Still sounding like dreams you only half-remember, they remain two of the most quietly affecting albums of the '90s.
