Fryars is Ben Garrett, born London, England 1989. His critically aclaimed debut album 'Dark Young Hearts' was released in the autumn of 2009, and was produced by Fryars along with Luke Smith (formerly of Clor) and Paul Butler of The Bees. His second album 'Power' is a concept album about the rise and fall of engineer Willow Grady and his subsequent journey to self discovery. Recorded with Luke Smith between Sweden and London, the music features strings from the Gothenburg Symphonic. In between albums he has toured with Goldfrapp and Vampire Weekend, as well as writing and producing for several high profile pop acts, plus recently scored his first film. Whilst the album may cover a lot of ground stylistically, it is all held together by Fryars' all-encompassing vision. The songs are strong enough to work out of context, but as a whole, 'Power' has the ability to pull the listener into a whole new world for fifty minutes, and for those fifty minutes the rulebook goes out the window.
