We're long term fans of MG Boulter, having had him play in the shop on a few occasions over the years. A songwriter whose turn of phrase and observant lyrics bring new light to the minutiae or small town life. His new album Clifftown, is out now on Hudson Records, and he's been kind enough to make us a playlist of some favourites. Scroll down to read Matt's thoughts on his choices, and to listen BUY: Clifftown Clifftown is an album about growing up and living in a seaside suburban town, the good and the bad. 2021, Album, Further Listening, Joseph Shabason, LP, Mix, Mixcloud, Mixtape, Playlist, South Records, The Fellowship -

Joseph Shabason is a big favourite of ours here, mixing Fourth World ambience with woozy ECM jazz - think Jon Hassell and Harold Budd covering John Martyn's Sweet Little Mystery and you're on the right track. We asked Joseph if he'd make us a Further Listening mix (following on from The Reds, Pinks & Purples from a few weeks back) and he delivered an absolute beaut, a mix of songs that have excited him in the past year. Scroll down to listen, and check out the tracklisting. BUY: The Fellowship (limited indies-only transparent blue vinyl) Tracklist: Andre Ethier - Wild GoldfishDan Edmonds - The...

Uncommon Weather (which is available on limited transparent blue vinyl) is a continuation of the timeless DIY pop from his 2020 album You Might Be Happy Someday and their first proper full length Anxiety Art, a title that might nod to the classic Television Personalities song “Anxiety Block.” Donaldson’s music continuously reckons with the influence of Dan Treacy, whose own forays into drum-machines, echo, and reverb in the early 1990s is an important reference point for The Reds, Pinks...

2021, album, lp, Mirry, mix, mixtape, playlist, simon tong, spotify, tom fraser, vinyl -

When we first heard the Mirry album we instantly fell for it, bringing to mind the homespun experimentalism of Woo and the pastoral wonder of Virginia Astley. Then we read the great story behind it, finding that Simon Tong - an unassuming friend of a friend (who also happens to be a member of The Verve, The Good, The Bad & The Queen and The Magnetic North) was involved. Simon was kind enough to make us an exclusive mix, along with Tom Fraser, the musician whose clearance of his grandfather's loft brought us this great album. Read more about the album HERE ...
