When it comes to opinions and tastes, lists are pretty stupid, one mans ceiling is another's floor and all that.  But in music, despite being the opposite of what (I'd hope) most people make music for, lists get churned out on a daily basis ("10 Best Hats Worn By Left Handed People In Bands" etc).  Everybody can get overwhelmed by all the new stuff that's out there, so with unerring uniformity record shops (and magazines, blogs, gobby people etc) will always do an end of year list.  Some would list their best sellers of the year, most however pick the records they...

Ultramarine Live At South 15/11/14

On Saturday Ultramarine came down to sunny (rainy) Southend to play live in the shop.  The gig was to coincide with the re-issue of 1991's Every Man And Woman Is A Star on Rough Trade. Buffalo Bar

After 14 years London's Buffalo Bar is being forced to close by its new owners Delia Sparrow from the bar says: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the imminent closure of the Buffalo Bar. We have been served a very short notice period from our new landlords, after being here for over 14 years. They remain undecided what to do with our space. It will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Make of that what you will. So, after all this time, we will be hosting our final event on New Years Eve, 2014. This night will serve as a fundraiser...
