After leaving Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt formed a new progressive rock band in 1971. With the help of Caravan's David Sinclair, Phil Miller (Hatfield and the North, National Health) and Bill MacCormick (Quiet Sun), the band got its first line-up and created one of the most important formations of the flourishing Canterbury scene.
The band put out two studio albums in total, both in 1972. The first being the self-titled Matching Mole. In 2012, an expanded edition was released on CD, but never appeared on vinyl. Now, exclusively for Record Store Day 2024, the expanded edition of Matching Mole is available on vinyl for the very first time as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies yellow and orange marbled vinyl
Matching Mole (Expanded Edition) includes an additional bonus LP 2, which contains 7 outtakes and alternate takes.
