In August 1958, French producer Marcel Romano sent a telegram to Monk‰۪s manager, Harry Colomby: ‰ÛÏInterested in Thelonious music. Stp. For Movie...‰۝ By the end of July 1959, Marcel Romano organized the recording sessions for the soundtrack of Les Liaisons Dangereuses 1960, the French movie directed by Roger Vadim. As yet, Monk‰۪s major contribution to this movie ‰ÛÒ and only contribution to a full-length movie ever ‰ÛÒ has never seen the light of the day apart from its video form. Thelonious Monk (1917-1982) was at the height of his powers when he entered Nola Penthouse Studios in New York City on July 27, 1959. The recording contains all the music utilized in the film, as well as some tracks which were not heard on screen.
